FREE PATTERN - Wee Cupcake Pattern

Wee Cupcake!

Worsted cotton yarn, 3.25 mm D hook
Stitch counts include chain stitch


Cup base: (Color A)


Create a magic loop
Rd 1: in loop, ch 1, sc 6, sl st to join (7)
Rd 2: ch 1, sc 2 in each st, sl st to join (13)
Rd 3: ch 1, [sc 1, sc 2 in next] repeat [] around, sl st to join (19)
Rd 4: ch 1, [sc 1, sc 2 in next, sc 1] repeat [] around, sl st to join (25)

Pull the loop through the slip stitch so it's sticking out of the back:
Remove hook from loop (being careful not to pull out the last slip stitch!)
From the back of the circle, insert hook through the same stitch as your slip stitch. (fig 1)
Use the hook to pull the loop through the stitch so both the loop and the tail are sticking out the back side.

Cup sides:Rd 5: in back loops- ch 1, sc around, sl st to join

Option A: (ridged - as shown)

Rd 5-10: ch 1, [sc 1 in one loop of front post of previous row (fig 3), sc 1 normal st in next stitch] repeat [] around, sl st to join
FIG 3: Single crochet 1 in one loop of front post of previous row.










Option B: (easy)

Rd 5-10 ch 1, sc around, sl st to join



Frosting: (switch to color B) 
Rd 11: 
Option A: In front loops of round 10, sc 2 in each st, sl st to join
Option B: In front loops of round 10, [sc 3 in same stitch, slip stitch in next] repeat around, slip stitch to join.
Pull loop through last slip stitch so it is sticking out of the back (see FIG 1 and 2)

The rest will be working in continuous loops:

Rd 12: in back loops of round 10, [sc 1 in each of next two stitches, sc 2 in next] repeat around
Rd 13: sc around
Rd 14: [sc 1 in each of next 2 stitches, sc 2 together]
Rd 15-16: [sc 2 tog] around

Tie off, use tail to thread through the stitches of the last row with a yarn needle, pull tight to close, tie off, weave in all ends.



Cherry - red yarn
Rd 1: In magic loop, ch 1, sc 6
Rd 2: sc around
Tie off, leading a long tail. Use tail to thread through stitches of last row, pull tight to close, tie off. Use tail to attach to cupcake.

Worsted cotton, 5 mm hook,
Hat - work in continuous rounds (do not slip stitch or chain at the end of each round)
Ch 4, sl st to make a loop
Rd 1: In loop, sc 9, hdc 1 (10)
Rd 2: hdc 2 in each st (20)
Rd 3: [dc 1, dc 2 in next] repeat around (30)
Rd 4: [dc 1 in each of next 2 st, dc 2 in next st] repeat around (40)
Rd 5-9: dc around (40)
Rd 10: dc 33, hdc 3, sc 3, sl st 1

Front flap - continuing from hat:
Ch 3
Row 1-3: dc 13, ch 3, turn
Row 4: dc 13 tie off

Earflaps:
Starting 1 stitch from the front flap:
Sl st to start, ch 2
Dc 7, ch 2, turn
Dc 2 tog,dc 2, dc 2 tog, dc 1, ch 2, turn
Dc 2 tog x 2, dc 1, ch 1, turn
Dc 3 in same st, sl st 1, tie off
Repeat for second earflap

Color 2: single crochet around the entire rim. I recommend to sc2tog at angles (like where the earflap meets the hat) and to sc 2 in the same stitch on corners (the corners of the earflaps and front flap).
