Owl Ornament/Mini Amigurumi
BODY:(worked in continuous rounds – do not slip stitch or chain at the end of each row, unless instructed in the pattern; just continue the next row onto the previous row’s first stitch)
WITH COLOR A
Make a magic loop.
Rd 1 – in the magic loop, ch 1, sc 6 (6) **PULL TAIL TO CLOSE**
Rd 2 – sc 2 in each st (12) **USE YARN NEEDLE TO SECURE TAIL SO IT DOESN’T LOOSEN**
Rd 3 – [sc 1, sc 2 in next] repeat around (18)
Rd 4-6 – sc around (18)
Rd 7 – sc 1 in each of next 17, sl st 1, tie off.
SWITCH TO COLOR B
Rd 8 – sc around **ADD EYES, BEAK, WINGS**
Rd 9 – [sc 1, sc 2 tog] (12) **STUFF BODY**
Rd 10 – [sc around] (6)
Tie off, leave long tail. Use yarn needle and tail to stitch closed
WINGS: (Make 2)
WITH COLOR A
Make a magic loop.
Chain 3
Work in loop – 1 dc, 2 tc, 1 dc
Chain 3 and slip stitch in magic loop.
Pull tail and secure with knot
EYES: (Make 2)
WITH WHITE Make a magic loop.
In loop, chain 1, sc 6, sl st to top of ch. Tie off.
Use yarn needle and black yarn to stitch eyes (you can also use plastic eyes or small buttons, if desired)
BEAK:
WITH COLOR C
Ch 3
Rd 1 – in first ch from hook, sc 1, sc 1 in next
Rd 2 – ch 1, turn, sc 1
Tie off, leave long tail
(NOTE: The beak is tricky to get into an even triangle, and it may look wonky at first. Be careful to stitch it on to the body so that the three points are placed correctly, and it should look fine.)
EAR TUFTS
Use 6" strands of colors A and B to thread through stitchs in row 2 or 3 (be careful to place them evenly!)
Knot all strands together and snip off to desired length
